Exile Returns for a New Season with New Host Joshua Malina

Antica Productions and the Leo Baeck Institute are proud to announce the return of the acclaimed historical podcast Exile for a new season, premiering February 24 with critically acclaimed actor Joshua Malina (The West Wing, Scandal) joining as the series’ new host.

Drawn from the vast archives of the Leo Baeck Institute, Exile shares compelling stories of German-speaking Jewish lives under the shadow of fascism — from artists and intellectuals to everyday people whose experiences illuminate a defining chapter of 20th-century history. The new season continues the show’s signature blend of archival storytelling, dramatic readings, and rigorous historical research, bringing these powerful stories to life for contemporary audiences.

New episodes will be released every Tuesday beginning February 24. The season explores a wide range of remarkable figures and moments, including underground resistance through puppet theatre in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam, the unexpected scientific legacy of Hollywood star Hedy Lamarr, the influential refugee newspaper Aufbau in New York, the life and controversies of philosopher Hannah Arendt, and a two-part portrait of Rabbi Leo Baeck.

Produced by the Leo Baeck Institute, New York and Antica Productions, Exile continues its mission to share stories preserved in the Institute’s world-renowned archives and to connect past and present through deeply human narratives of exile, resilience, and cultural survival.

The new season marks an exciting chapter for the series, with Malina bringing his distinctive voice and performance background to the role of narrator while continuing the show’s tradition of cinematic sound design and ensemble voice acting.

Exile is available on all major podcast platforms.
