Entertainment One’s Podcast Network is proud to have five of their fifteen podcasts nominated for Podcamp Toronto’s second annual CANADIAN PODCAST AWARDS, which celebrates outstanding podcasts produced by Canadian podcasters, editors, and producers. The AI Effect, Ask Mr. Wonderful, Single Girl Problems, Turn Me On, and Sickboy are all finalists in representing Canada’s best podcasts.
“The nominees exemplify the wealth of talent we have here in Canada and reflect the unique attitudes, opinions, ideas, values, and creativity of Canadians,” said John Leschinski, Chair of Podcamp Toronto. “We had over 200 entries this year from across the country — it’s really an incredible achievement to be selected by your peers in the Canadian podcasting community.”
Risqué podcasts such as Single Girl Problems (hosted by author Andrea Bain) and Turn Me On (featuring polyamorous couple Bryde Maclean and Jeremie Saunders) have been selected as a finalists in the Adult category.
Hailing from the east coast, is Halifax’s Sickboy, also featuring Jeremie Saunders and his best friends Brian Stever and Taylor MacGillivary. The show explores terminal illness and the beauty of human resilience. Their podcast has been nominated in the Health category.
In the Technology category, The AI Effect has secured a nomination. Led by Accenture’s artificial intelligence expert Jodie Wallis and technology reporter Amber Mac, they discuss the adoption of AI with innovators and global leaders (such as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau).
Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary starts strong with his latest podcast, Ask Mr. Wonderful. It was selected under the Debut category –after only launching in November 2018. Both The AI Effect and O’Leary’s Ask Mr. Wonderful have also been selected as finalists for the Business category (each with a total of two nominations at The Canadian Podcast Awards).

Winners will be announced at an awards party sponsored by Girth Radio in Toronto on February 23, 2019 at the Pacific Junction Hotel, as part of the 13th Annual Podcamp Toronto un-conference running from February 22-24, 2019.
